Fraud investigator Tracy Coenen has been named the 2007 recipient of the prestigious Hubbard Award, presented by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

The Hubbard Award honors the Association’s late Regent Emeritus Thomas Hubbard, Ph.D., CFE, professor emeritus and former head of the accounting department at the University of Nebraska. Dr. Hubbard was an active contributor to the Association during his long years of membership, and was an early pioneer of promoting the discipline of fraud examination in the world of academia.

The Association’s members vote for the best Fraud Magazine article from the prior year’s issues, and the Hubbard Award is presented at the annual Fraud Conference.

Coenen says “It is an honor to receive this award from my peers, and I have enjoyed contributing to Fraud Magazine.” She is a frequent contributor to other industry publications for accountants and lawyers, writing for publications such as Wisconsin Law Journal and Andrews Litigation Reporter.

The award-winning article was entitled Financial Statement Fraud in the Katrina Aftermath: A Whirlwind of Opportunities, and was featured in the January/February 2006 issue of Fraud Magazine.

Coenen is the founder and president of Sequence Inc., a forensic accounting firm with offices in Milwaukee and Chicago. The Association of Certified Fraud Examiners is the world’s largest anti-fraud organization, with over 40,000 international members.
