Moussaoui tries to withdraw his guilty plea

Zacarias Moussaoui, the 9/11 conspirator who recently pleaded guilty has asked to court to allow him to withdraw his guilty plea and instead have a trial. He says that he lied on the witness stand about his involvement in the 9/11 plot. As part of his 2005 guilty plea, he testified that it was his assignment to hijack a 747 jetliner with shoe bomber Richard Reid as part of his hijacking team.

Since Moussaoui was given a life sentence instead of the death penalty, he says he now believes that he could get a fair trial from an American jury. The judge has denied his request, and said that by pleading guilty he waived his right to a jury trial.
