SEC rejects SOX exemption for small companies

For months, the SEC has been considering whether to exempt small companies from Section 404 of Sarbanes-Oxley. Compliance with SOX is expensive, and it was argued that smaller companies were overburdened. Instead of exempting the small companies, the SEC has decided it will make some of the audit rules easier and less expensive for them.
