Results of Las Vegas G Sting trial

Former Clark County Commissioner Dario Herrera and former Commissioner Mary Kincaid-Chauncey have been convicted in the Las Vegas “G Sting” trial. They were both found guilty of federal charges of conspiracy, wire fraud, and extortion under color of official right. They are set to be sentenced August 21, and while they could get up to 45 years in prison, the actual sentences are expected to be much lower.

The six week jury trial included FBI wiretaps, surveillance videos, and heard testimony about political bribes. One witness was Michael Galardi, a strip club owner who paid bribes to politicians in order to facilitate the opening of a new club. He says he paid $200,000 to Herrera and $85,000 to Kincaid-Chauncey. Galardid pleaded guilty to bankrolling political corruption and will receive no more than five years in prison.
