Pictures of post-Katrina New Orleans

In late September, I visited New Orleans and took a tour of the hurricane-damaged areas. Specifically, we visited one of the hardest-hit areas, the Ninth Ward and Lower Ninth Ward.

These are just a few of the pictures that I took.

This is a house that is being raised up onto pillars by the owner, so that it won’t be flooded again. The trailer he lives in is parked in his yard while he repairs the house.

These are several devastated houses. A couple of them had trailers in the yards as well, as they are being repaired. Others are boarded up and don’t look like they’re being repaired.
