31st Edition of the Carnival of Fraud
Welcome to this week’s carnival, and thank you for your submissions. You can submit posts for next week’s carnival here.
Wenchypoo exposes the lie of global warming. Here, here! Faulty science says “global warming” is all our fault because of SUVs and pollution. Too bad they didn’t consider the fact that Mars is experiencing “global warming” as well. Guess all those Martians will have to stop driving SUVs too?
BBB Consumer Education gives us the details on foreign lottery scams and what to do if you’re solicited.
Sox First talks about bank fraud and the fact that banks aren’t doing enough to combat it.
I’ve mentioned this story here before. A guy gets a “preapproved” credit card application in the mail. He rips is up. Tapes it back together. Applies for the credit card with a different address than the preapproved one, uses a phone number from a cell phone. And voila! He is issued a credit card.
Matt Paulson talks to us about how not to make money online. Beware of work-at-home scams, getting paid to read emails, making money after you pay for a kit, and pyramid schemes.
Did someone say pyramid schemes? My favorite topic!
Usana Health Sciences is back at it again. The product-based pyramid scheme that sells vitamins to its victims is trying to do continuous damage control after Barry Minkow and Fraud Discovery Institute continue to expose more fraud, deception, and misrepresentations by Usana. Last week the company had an earnings conference call with Wall Street, and flat-out lied to the investing community. Usana is desperate to save this sinking ship.
