Blogger explains McGee (Jackson) recall election win

Posted on April 5th, 2007

James T. Harris blogged today about the reason that a total failure like Michael McGee (Jackson) could win this week’s recall election with 46% of the vote. His words are profound. In his post Recall Vote Affirms Failure, he says the following:

People actually asked, “What was this a vote for?”

I;ll tell you: Failure.

It is as simple as that. As a “leader,” Alderman Mike McGee/Jackson makes people comfortable with their own personal failure. For his constituents to vote against him is for them to vote against themselves.

Have you ever driven through McGee/Jackson’s district? We are talking about people who won’t even clean up broken glass from their front porch, even though their own kids play there. We are talking about school systems that are scraping the bottom of the barrel. We are talking about astronomical crime rates that lead all other districts in the city. We are talking about people who have embraced and worship the thug life.

You think I’m kidding?

It doesn’t matter to most inner city Milwaukeeans of African descent that McGee/Jackson has two social security numbers (for most people that’s a federal crime) or that he threatens people in open court or that he calls for the lynching of a colleague, etc., etc… ad infinitum! All that matters is that Mike is one of them and that they would never ever vote against themselves. Never.
