Ashanti Hamilton, you make me sick.
I held out hope that Ashanti Hamilton was going to be one of the good guys. A guy who represented his constituents with integrity, and demanded the same of his colleagues.
I was wrong.
Here are his shameful words at a rally to support habitual criminal, Michael McGee Jr., as reported by 620 WTMJ Radio:
Fellow Milwaukee Alderman Ashanti Hamilton also spoke at the event, calling the McGee prosecutions evidence of “a system gone astray.”
“What we are witnessing now is a manifestation of the mistreatment of an elected official,” he said. “Let’s correct this, and let’s not stand to let our system of justice to be perverted, because it’s all of ours. If we don’t correct it, then we stand to be in that position, too.”
Ashanti – Stand up for your people. Demand more of your colleagues. And by all means, don’t defend this criminal whose prosecution is long overdue.
McGee blatantly violated the law on multiple occasions, and there is plenty of evidence. He doesn’t deserve bail in light of the crimes he has committed and the threats, intimidation, and coercion he’s involved in.
He doesn’t deserve to get a pass on prosecution. For you to claim that this is an injustice to McGee shows that you lack integrity as well.
I’m ashamed to admit you graduated from my Alma Mater.
