She is a pretend expert on food, blogging about supposedly dangerous additives. Some call her a &#8220;food activist,&#8221; but the truth is that <a href=\"http:\/\/adage.com\/article\/news\/activist-capitalist-food-babe-makes-money\/294032\/\">she is paid for bringing paranoia and hysteria<\/a> to her cult-like following.<\/p>\n<p>I believe Vani Hari is a complete fraud for a multitude of reasons. The most compelling include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Her lack of education in the field in which she claims to be an expert<\/li>\n<li>She makes money from <a href=\"https:\/\/badscidebunked.wordpress.com\/2014\/12\/17\/the-food-babe-drinking-game-companion-guide\/\">bashing companies<\/a> and promoting &#8220;alternatives&#8221; which pay her through <a href=\"https:\/\/badscidebunked.wordpress.com\/2014\/12\/14\/food-babe-laughing-all-the-way-to-the-bank-part-1\/\">affiliate links<\/a> or other advertising means (and these alternatives <a href=\"http:\/\/jebkinnison.com\/2014\/07\/14\/vani-hari-food-babe-and-quack-where-the-money-comes-from\/\">often include expensive, useless supplements<\/a>.)<\/li>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<li>It was discovered that Food Babe has gotten companies she has criticized to<a href=\"http:\/\/www.charlotteobserver.com\/2014\/07\/13\/5040109\/charlottes-food-babe-has-lots.html\"> pay her &#8220;consulting fees&#8221; <\/a>(some might call this extortion)<\/li>\n<li>Little science, lots of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/davidkroll\/2014\/05\/06\/food-babe-fear-mongering-vs-serious-issues-in-health-promotion\/\">fear mongering<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sequenceinc.com\/fraudfiles\/2014\/09\/is-food-babe-a-fraud\/\">She is wrong so often<\/a> (The <a href=\"http:\/\/scienceblogs.com\/insolence\/2014\/06\/23\/the-food-babe-is-to-food-as-jenny-mccarthy-is-to-vaccines\/\">misguided attack on beer<\/a>, her silly claims about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencebasedmedicine.org\/microwaves-and-nutrition\/\">microwaves<\/a>, her <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencebasedmedicine.org\/scam-stud\/\">wrong information on vaccines<\/a>, just to name a few.)<\/li>\n<li>She won&#8217;t actually respond to legitimate criticism that is based in science and facts. She just lumps together all critics and focuses on the people who attack her personally. Her followers focus on those attacks, and don&#8217;t demand that she respond with facts to the legitimate criticism.<\/li>\n<li>Hari was named the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.realclearscience.com\/lists\/junk_science_of_2014\/the_food_babe.html\">#1 junk science for 2014 by Real Clear Science<\/a>. LOL.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Food Babe claims this isn&#8217;t about the money. This is her &#8220;passion.&#8221; Except it&#8217;s not enough of a passion for her to actually research and <strong>provide accurate information<\/strong> to her &#8220;Food Babe Army.&#8221; Therefore, I must conclude that Vani Hari&#8217;s crusade IS all about the money.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A few months ago, I wrote here about &#8220;Food Babe,&#8221; the persona invented by Vani Hari.
