This Vesey Street staircase was the path to survival for many fleeing the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;&#8230;. Because it offered a path to safety that allowed many people to escape the blazing [tag]World Trade Center[\/tag] on Sept. 11, 2001, this haunting remnant is often called the Survivors&#8217; Staircase.
