I am wrapping up writing my manuscript entitled Essentials of Corporate Fraud<\/a>, to be published by John Wiley & Sons. I’ve been discussing my experience with finding a publisher and getting a book deal here. It’s been an interesting process, and not quite what I expected.<\/p>\n

In a nutshell, it has been way easier than I ever imagined.<\/p>\n

I basically met my editor and explored some ideas. A few months later when I wanted to get serious about actually writing and publishing something, I told my editor that I wanted to either move forward with Wiley or find another publisher. Within a matter of a few weeks, we had decided on idea and all we had to do was put together the internal proposal, get final approval, and get the contract on paper.<\/p>\n

My attorneys suggested a couple of key additions to Wiley’s contract, and they agreed to most of them. We had the deal signed quickly.<\/p>\n

I was offered the opportunity to select my own writing schedule. Basically, the schedule could be as short or as long as I wanted it to be. I chose an aggressive time-frame. Why wait? Why give myself a reason to procrastinate? I took a short writing schedule and I am closing in on my deadline for the full manuscript.<\/p>\n

My contract required that I submit several chapters halfway to my deadline. Naturally, I was a bit nervous as I waited for my feedback. The feedback was awesome! My writing requires few edits, so we may even get to production early.<\/p>\n

Writing the book has been fun. I haven’t found it difficult at all, other than just finding the time to sit down and focus on writing. It seems there are always other deadlines or priorities before writing. I have had a lot of creative freedom with this book, and I have really enjoyed that aspect.<\/p>\n
