How long are Myron Wentz, Dave Wentz, and Gil Fuller going to carry on this charade?

From the Usana Health Sciences 10-Q from the first quarter of 2007:

During the first quarter of 2007 we received some negative press due to what we believe to be misinformation appearing in the mass media and related pending class action litigation. We are taking aggressive action to address this misinformation and hope to minimize its impact on our efforts to grow our business. Although we remain optimistic about the future, we believe that it is appropriate to slightly adjust our sales and earnings estimates downward for 2007 due to uncertainties surrounding the impact of this misinformation on our ability to keep our Associates active in the business, and expenses associated with addressing the misinformation.

Misinformation they say? Might I remind everyone that Usana’s own documents and/or own executives admit to the following:

  • 72.2% of all distributor commissions are paid to the top 2.6% of commission receiving distributors, meaning everyone else gets next to nothing.
  • 66% of Usana associates receive no commissions at all
  • 87% of Usana distributors don’t even earn enough commissions to pay for their required minimum monthly purchases
  • The average commissions paid to Usana distributors decreased from 2005 to 2006
  • Usana has failed to build a significant retail business of its own with its heavily touted Preferred Customer program… Only 14% of the company’s sales come from Preferred Customers.
  • Further evidence of Usana’s ability to build a retail business of its own lies in the fact that each Preferred Customer purchases fewer than 6 Health Pak 100’s per year… not even a whole year’s worth for each.
  • Denis Waitley had no Masters Degree even though Usana published that he did have one in its SEC filings
  • Denis Waitley’s PhD “cannot be confirmed” (i.e. does not exist?)
  • Usana misrepresents Tim Wood’s PhD

I could go on and on with more facts that have been proven about Usana, which the executives are apparently claiming are misinformation. I’m not convinced. The above are facts. Where’s the “misinformation”?

Maybe they’re talking about Dave Wentz’s own misinformation when he said the only way a Usana distributor could lose money is by throwing vitamins in the garbage can?

At least they’re keepin’ it real by adjusting sales and earnings estimates downward.
