Ladd McNamara apparently has no regard for the rules of agencies that license physicians. Yesterday he opened a brand new blog, which he titles “Dr. Ladd McNamara’s Blog.”
Too bad that on May 31, 2007, Barry Minkow and Fraud Discovery Institute released a report indicating that Mr. McNamara does not have a license to practice medicine. He was forced to give up his license in Ohio after the licensing agency found he did not tell them (as required) that he had given up his license in Georgia. He lost two licenses, and has never been licensed in California, where he currently lives.
A few days after the report which revealed Mr. McNamara is not really a doctor, he resigned from the medical advisory board of Usana Health Sciences.
Adding insult to injury, this blog which indicates Mr. McNamara is a “Dr.” and an “M.D.” comes only two days after National Business Review publishes an article stating that Mr. McNamara admitted to having no medical license:
In his letter to NBR, Mr McNamara admits that his two state medical licenses were revoked but writes that one of them was valid “the entire time I served on Usana’s medical advisory board.”
The article explains further, that as a California resident, Mr. McNamara is not permitted to refer to himself as a doctor:
Finally, Mr McNamara wrote that he “will always be a doctor, whether licensed or not.”
But according to Candis Cohen of the State Medical Board of California, where Mr McNamara currently lives, “He is so wrong…As long as he’s living here he can’t call himself ‘MD’ or ‘doctor’ or ‘physician’ unless he has a California medical license.”
Mr. McNamara’s blog starts off with 8 entries on its first day online, including two endorsements of Mr. McNamara’s integrity and expertise, even referring to him as a “physician.”
He also describes his background on the blog. Notice how Mr. McNamara fails to mention the fact that he gave up his medical license in Georgia and had his medical license in Ohio revoked. Instead, he refers to himself as “retired.”

Ray Strand, M.D. Stands Behind Dr. McNamara

We have worked together in the field of nutritional medicine making our patients and people aware of the health benefits of taking high-quality nutritional supplements. He has personally been an encouragement to me because of his passion, expertise, and professionalism in presenting the true scientific and medical facts in this truly emerging new field of medicine. I have listened to his lectures and read his books with great admiration and respect. He has certainly influenced my practice of nutritional medicine and I owe him a great debt of gratitude for his work and expertise as a leader in the field of nutritional medicine.
Dr. Ladd McNamara is an excellent physician and specialist in obstetrics and gynecology. He has practiced his specialty with the utmost of integrity, professionalism, and expertise. I have personally visited with several of his patients who all have the deepest regard and respect for Dr. McNamara. He is truly unique in this era of allopathic medicine because he has taken the time to care and guide his patients into those healthy lifestyles that has allowed his patients to enjoy improved health and decreased dependence on medication. Dr. McNamara is certainly one of those fine physicians everyone would like to have had as their personal doctor.

Could Mr. McNamara be more blatant in violating physician licensing rules?
