direct-selling-pyramid-schemeMulti-level marketing companies are getting lots of attention lately thanks to the Bill Ackman smackdown of Herbalife in December. MLMs offering “nutrition products” are of special interest to consumers, and with good reason. Companies like Isagenix, MonaVie , Usana, Mannatech, and Shaklee all offer magic potions that claim to help you lose weight, absorb more vitamins and minerals, and cure all diseases.

Of course, many of these health claims are strictly prohibited. Nutrition MLMs generally have disclaimers stating that their health claims have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration, and that the products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. But that doesn’t stop the distributors for making such claims, and the company management turns a blind eye to it.

Jennifer McKinney – the blogger formerly known as MckMama (and the one who was accused of fraud on the United States Bankruptcy Court) – – has been pimping Xyngular for almost a year. Go Team MckMama!!!! She has been racking up new recruits like crazy, possibly due in part to the health claims she has made like this one:

xygunlar-health-claims-mckinney

Do Xyngular products work?

You’re probably asking yourself if the Xyngular products actually “cure” all kinds of diseases as participants on MckMama’s Facbook page have claimed. I’ve seen claims that it has cured fybromyalgia, diabetes, chronic fatigue syndrome, migraines, joint pain, and more.

The short answer is NO.  Xyngular products do not cure these ailments, or any others. There have been no clinical studies to back up any of these claims. I don’t doubt that some people may temporarily feel better when they try a new product. But I do not believe there is any scientific evidence to support the claims that Xyngular heals these illnesses.

Do the products help people lose weight? Yes. But the weight loss is done at the expense of your body. According to my research, the weight loss program promoted by Xyngular is very dangerous. And those who lose weight with it are unlikely to keep it off long term because it is a fad diet, and the results are achieved by starving yourself and taking potentially unsafe substances in the process.

Jennifer McKinney’s Weight Loss

To show you just how ineffective the Xyngular weight loss program is, we have to look no further than Jennifer McKinney’s weight loss journey. What you will see below will prove that Xyngular is a waste of money. A lot of money.

Here is the short version of the story: (keep reading below for all the gory details)

jennifer-mckinney-xyngular-weight-lossMckMama claims to have started working out in December 2011, with her weight at 238.  She allegedly lost 20 to 25 pounds, and she documented that loss on her blog and Facebook page.

(Special thanks to my dear friend Snort, who put together the numbers in the next three charts!)

mckmama-exercise-and-diet

MckMama lost this weight the way that doctors recommend losing weight: With diet and exercise.  So in about 6 weeks, she lost 27 pounds, or 4.5 pounds per week.

Jennifer McKinney started using Xyngular in January 2012, just a little over a year ago.  Her level of exercise dropped significantly after starting Xyngular, as she was relying on the pills and potions to lose the weight. Her Xyng weight loss went like this:

mckmama-xyngular-plan

According to her Facebook posts, Jennifer got down to her lowest weight in July or August, around 171 pounds (or possibly 168 pounds, depending on which Facebook posts you believe). In 29 weeks with Xyngular, she lost about 43 pounds, or 1.5 pounds per week.

So with exercise and sensible eating, Jennifer lost 4.5 pounds per week. With starvation and drugs (which we’ll discuss below), she lost 1.5 pounds per week.

And lest you should think that her weight loss slowed because it is harder to lose once you get thinner… you should understand that even at 168 or 171 pounds, Jennifer was still overweight for her height, which is 5’6″. We’re not talking about someone having difficulty losing the last few pounds. She would have to get to at least 150 pounds to be on the upper end of the “normal range.”

And what has happened since August? MckMama has gained about 35 pounds and lost about 27 pounds. Of course, she only gave numbers for her losses, and rarely mentioned her gains.

mckmama-yo-yo-diet

Bouncing around between 169 pounds and 189 pounds for the last six months is not healthy. Xyngular is clearly the mother of all yo-yo diets. Or is that the MckMama of all yo-yo diets???

Further more, the 43 pounds that MckMama lost via the Xyngular products (and then gained, and lost, and gained, and lost….)  has come at a price, both to her pocketbook and her health.

Are the Xyngular products healthy and safe?

The Xyng products are marketed as “all natural,” but what does that mean? MckMama has been repeatedly doing the 8-day Ignite Fat Burning System. What Xyngular is selling you is an extremely low calorie diet, supplemented with products that are arguably dangerous.

Here are the concerns that I have with the “8 day challenge” that McKinney so often promotes:

  • Every morning starts with a Xyng pill which has an ingredient called geranium root, which is DMAA (a substance with questionable safety), according to this document. Xyng also contains beta phenylethylamine HCL, a substance with effects similar to amphetamine, an upper.
  • You only eat three meals during the entire eight day program. No, that’s not an error. Three out of the eight days are called “eating days,” and on those days, you get to have one meal of 500 to 600 calories. The other five days, you have no meals.
  • Essentially, the only thing you are allowed to eat besides those three meals is protein. You’re allowed 4-6 ounces twice a day, but that’s it.
  • Instead of meals, you will be having meal replacement shakes, some overpriced fruit juice, a bunch of laxatives (called “Flush”), and some silly “Cheat” sprinkles that claim to prevent your body from absorbing fat.

And what about the low calorie part of the plan? Lowering calories is good. Lowering calories too much is bad. Lowering calories to an extreme, and without a doctor’s supervision is downright dangerous.

Consuming less than 1,000 calories per day is considered a starvation diet. That’s why such diets are meant to be used only in extreme cases, and only under the active monitoring of a doctor.

I’ve added up the calories on the Ignite program, and on the non-eating days, you’ll be getting 500 to 800 calories. On the eating days, you’ll be getting 900 to 1,300 calories. You will be starving yourself constantly during the 8 day program.

You should research neutral sources on extremely low calorie diets. Remember, your Xyngular distributor will tell you this diet is fine. Why? Because they are trying to sell you something. These neutral sources have nothing to sell you. They are simply providing information that is generally accepted in the medical community. WebMD says that a very low calorie diet will enable you to lose weight, but should be done under medical supervision and may have side effects if done too long. And once you go off the very low calorie diet, you’re likely to gain the weight back.

Starve, supplement, repeat? Yes!

Could it get any worse? Yes. It is worse if the program helps you take off pounds, and then you gain them right back. Or if you have to keep doing the program over and over to sustain your weight loss.

We saw above that MckMama lost much less weight with the Xyngular system than with a simple plan for healthy eating and exercise. And we saw that for the last six months, her weight has been going up and down.

What’s the answer to this problem??? MORE XYNG!

In the last year, Jennifer Howe Sauls McKinney  has done at least ten of the 8 day challenges, according to her Facebook postings. That is 80 days of active starving and supplementing over the last year. Wow!

How much do Xyngular products cost?

The 8 day challenge with the Ignite system costs $250 wholesale, and $340 retail. If you move up to the 29-day Xyngular Body Transformation program that Jennifer did more recently, it is $490 wholesale, and $680 retail.

I know MckMama has justified the cost by saying that she spends less on groceries. I don’t know about you, but I don’t eat $500 to $700 of groceries myself per month. And I’m sure not going to pay that much for a starvation program that uses stimulants and hocus pocus to (supposedly) burn fat.

(FYI – This is how Jennifer McKinney is getting so many people to sign up as distributors. It’s cheaper to sign up – – $20 or $5 “membership fee” – – and pay wholesale for your pack than it is to buy the pack at retail.)

What about the Xyngular business opportunity?

What’s the real reason Jennifer McKinney is pushing Xyngular so hard? Because she makes money off every mark that she sucks into this scam. Again, we have seen clearly that Xyngular doesn’t work for her, but she has a vested interest in making is appear that it works. And look at her lifestyle people!!! Don’t you want that????

No, you don’t.

The Xyngular business opportunity is worthless. It is a typical multi-level marketing (MLM) program. Some people call it direct sales, network marketing, or referral marketing. It is all the same, and it is all a bad deal for almost everyone.

The first thing you need to know is that more than 99% of people who participate in multi-level marketing lose money.  MLM recruiters will tell you differently. They will tell you they know all sorts of people making a living doing it. They will say they know people getting rich from it. They are telling you lies to recruit you. Over and over, the research shows that almost everyone loses money in MLM.

Is MckMama making money with Xyngular? Yes. Are you going to be able to replicate that? Almost certainly not.

Jennifer McKinney has been “successful” with selling the Xyngular business opportunity because she already had a huge audience from her days of blogging. She sold the sizzle. She made her weight loss look easy, and made her lifestyle appealing to others. She made false medical claims in violation of company rules, but the assertions were compelling to those who had illnesses.

The wide reach she started with gave her a giant pool of potential victims. With thousands of blog readers, only a small fraction have to buy once or twice to elevate her to the “executive” ranks of Xyngular.

But almost everyone will fail, and any success by her recruits will not be correlated to their level of effort. (i.e. You can work incredibly hard in multi-level marketing and never come close to turning a profit because it is a game that is rigged against you.)

Most people are going to sign up, buy products once or twice, and then quit because they:

  • Get hip to this yo-yo diet nonsense
  • Realize the products are overpriced
  • Understand how dangerous the products and programs are
  • Find that most normal people aren’t going to pay this kind of money for such junk, and therefore they can’t recruit and “build the business”

We call this process churn and burn. Get a bunch of people to sign up, quickly sell them as many products you can, know that they will quit, and find new victims to sign up, quickly sell them products, and on and on and on.

Most importantly, remember this: In order to “earn” this money and the trips and other perks, you will sell your soul to the devil. You will be required to constantly recruit new people into this scheme by telling them about all the money they will earn, knowing in your heart that they have almost no chance of making that money. They will spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on products and will never turn a profit. They probably won’t even keep the weight off.  This is not a business, people. This is a pyramid scheme.

Oh, I know I will be called a dream stealer. I am negative! I don’t want you to succeed! What do you have to lose???? (Uh…. your money and your health!)

I am not stealing dreams. I am saving you time and money. Let the millions who went before you and lost billions of dollars to multi-level marketing schemes be your guide. Learn from their mistakes.

You have a better chance of turning a profit at a craps table or roulette wheel in Las Vegas than you do by becoming a Xyngular distributor (or any MLM, for that matter). I have no personal interest in whether or not you sign up. I do not profit whether you sign up or you decline.

I simply want you to understand that there is a 99% chance you will lose all the money you “invest” in this business. If you want to lose money, go throw some hundred dollar bills in a bonfire and enjoy the show. Don’t give your money to a liar who is pushing dangerous products on you (and her children, incidentally).

    Hi Tracy
In regard to Jennifer’s tax implication how do the trips factor in?

  2. Tracy Coenen 02/13/2013 at 7:23 am - Reply

Melinda – She will get a 1099 for whatever Xyngular believes in the “value” of the trip. What I have typically seen happen in MLMs, is they INFLATE the value so that the company can get a bigger deduction for tax purposes. That means the distributor pays tax on the inflated number.

What I’ve found is that generally, the distributor can go on an equivalent trip for LESS than the taxes they pay on the inflated value shown on the 1099.

Self-ruination is the best kind of karma.

Great posts Tracy. I am familiar with your work previously via the PinkTruth blog. But I really think the MckMama bankruptcy coverage was a high point of your blogging career. I learned a great deal about the process and how some people might attempt abuse.

  3. Tracy Coenen 02/13/2013 at 9:10 am - Reply

Yes, I’m a big fan of self-ruination too. In this case, it’s just a matter of time. MckMama won’t be able to keep up the recruiting. She is wearing out her “base” of supporters. As time goes on, she will lose fans because they get sick of hearing about diet pills. Those who ARE interested will start researching little by little, and will be turned off by Xyngular. Her numbers will drop fast. And once she starts the downward spiral, there will be no stopping it. Her recruiting will fall off, and she will quickly fall out of the ranks of the high earners at Xyngular. She will have no blog income, no MLM income, no ability to get a real job. She will be sunk, and it will be all by her own hand.

This is a great article that sums up what kind of person Jennifer appears to be. I hope many are able to read and understand why so many feel the way they do about her. Over the years, my main interest has been in the people she has scammed financially, I know the people who donated directly to her family will never recover that, but I am curious to see how the most recent cases will unfold. Tracey, what is the likelihood that the people, like the former employee, will get the money they are owed? I have seen people ask if there is anything that can be done for them in an attempt to make sure she cannot hide from the judgments, etc, but is there a chance she can continue to evade? There has been talk of her using different addresses for different things, of her and Israel still using different addresses and other things that may be intentionally done to make it more difficult for anyone to find her, but is that realistic? I just cannot imagine being owed that kind of money and not being able to provide for my family because someone else has decided their expensive taste is more important. What must that man and his family truly think about the McKinneys?

  5. Tracy Coenen 02/13/2013 at 9:46 am - Reply

She cannot hide from judgments. Mr. Youngman can get his money, now that he has a judgment against them. What he needs to do if garnish her earnings. He can use the legal system to garnish money she earns from Xyngular. He can have that money taken away before it even hits her grubby man hands. Xyngular is legally obligated to turn the money over to Youngman BEFORE they even think of giving it to Jennifer, so long as he has the right legal paperwork in hand. It will cost him a little bit to go through the process. But it’s worth it, and he should do it NOW, before her Xyng earnings start to drop.

  6. Heather 02/13/2013 at 11:00 am - Reply

Regarding the Youngman court case, however, it was filed against Israel McKinney / Kieran’s Contracting. Since Israel is (presumably) unemployed and Jennifer and Israel are still legally separated per Wisconsin court documents, I’m not sure that Jennifer McKinney’s income is accessible to Mr. Youngman. Only any income that starts flowing to Israel in accordance with his recent Xyngular distributor status would be accessible, although I imagine Jennifer’s is the much larger portion of income. Very interesting that the separation was not withdrawn . . .

    • Tracy Coenen 02/13/2013 at 11:12 am - Reply

Heather – That is not correct. Legal separation means nothing relative to debt. They are still spouses, so they can be held jointly liable for debt.

In this case, there will be a question of collecting from Jennifer because of differences between Minnesota and Wisconsin law. The debt was incurred in Minnesota, and they now live in Wisconsin. I do not know which law will apply. I suspect there will be more than one way to hold them jointly liable. 🙂

Tracy, Just a note about the garnishment that Israel owes. I believe he is xyng-slinging too as his name has been mentioned (and I have looked at the xyng website to verify) as a “top seller” for the company. I’m guessing even if they divorced or tried to duck this on Jennifer’s side, he’s making enough with xyng that they can go after his earnings directly.

Let me put it like this – – – If these assholes owed me more than $50,000, you better believe that I’d move heaven and earth to make them pay it. I don’t care how much trouble it is, I’d do it simply for the satisfaction of making them pay. I hope that’s Mr. Youngman’s attitude. These are BAD PEOPLE who need to pay the price for their actions.

    Great article, Tracy !

It’s not surprising at all that she gravitated to MLM’s for a source of income. Her entire blog, for years, was made up of embellishments, lies, photoshopping and deceiving people, and she has carried over these very same “skills” brilliantly as a pyramid scheme participant. She went from zero to the top relatively fast, and no doubt she’s taught the other skeevy distributors a thing or two ( none of which has the word honesty attached to it ). She’s taught the scammers how to be better scammers!

Is all of this information real about Mckmama? I read her blog and feltso bad for her family and then became very suspicious about the bankruptcy and when her husband left her. Then I started to follow her on Instagram and realized she is very self centered and weird. I feel very sorry for her children if she and her husband are scamming people. I never understood why they were filing bankruptcy but neither her or her husband were working? I really just feel so sorry for her children in he long run.

I have zero comments on the lady or her husband but you are woefully misinformed about the xyngular diet. I do not promote the products nor do I like them however I just wish morons like you would get your facts straight before “educating” everyone around you. The misinformation on this site is quite shocking. And to have people blindly buy into it? What a bunch of sheep.

Heather – You’re either a Xyngular shill, a MckMama fan, or both. You wouldn’t have found this article otherwise, nor would you say you don’t care about any of it yet still leave a comment.

Tellingly, you haven’t pointed out even ONE factual inaccuracy in this article. Why not? Because there are none. The Xyngular diet is an ultra low calorie diet using pills with dangerous ingredients. It is a fad diet from which users will almost surely gain back weight after they stop. Look at Jennifer… her results while on the pills have been HORRIBLE, yet she still pushes them and her followers blindly believe her. (They don’t even have the gumption to do a little research on their own to debunk her claims that they’re “all natural” and sent by God!)

It is fun having a site on which the facts are finally presented. There is no misinformation here, but if you happen to think you find something, please POINT IT OUT. I’ll be happy to make changes if you can provide some facts to back up your claims.

Once it came to her bankruptcy and her attempt to swindle her creditors out of three quarters of a million dollars, I could no longer sit by and just watch. I am doing my part to hold her accountable for her scams. I am thrilled to watch her have to pay her creditors one by one.

Xyngular is a fad diet. As you see Jennifer is doing much worse weight-wise since she started using it. All she has done is the yo-yo, while she lives an unhealthy lifestyle when it comes to food. I suspect you will be no different in your weight loss journey.

I once watched a webinar for an MLM. The way the distributor made money was by reaping the benefits of their downline – getting credit off of the people those below her recruited, and then getting credit for the people those people recruited. She may not run out of recruits because she has people doing it for her.

    • Tracy Coenen 04/08/2013 at 11:06 am - Reply

Yes, MLM requires constant recruiting, and to the extent that you can get the freaks below you to do the recruiting dirty work for you, you are golden. Can JM keep that up? Those at the top often ride momentum well. That’s exactly what JM is doing right now. She is using all the buzz words and creating excitement among people who will largely not bother to research her claims. I LOST 80 POUNDS is compelling. Sadly, most won’t look into the claim to see that JM’s WORST WEIGHT LOSS has been on Xyng, and she has been yo-yoing the entire time she’s been on Xyng. It’s much more fun to believe IT IS BECAUSE OF XYNG THAT SHE’S SKINNY AND HAVING FUN!

Believe me, JM hates the hamster wheel she is on. She constantly has to look for new victims everywhere she goes, must use the same tired catch phrases, must make sure not to say anything that will make people suspicious…

The constant churn is required to stay at the top. I don’t think it will last beyond another year.

And if sheeple would start paying attention and looking into her claims, it could all end much, much sooner.

Joleen – Xyngular is nothing but overpriced snake oil. You lost the weight by starving yourself and using unhealthy chemicals. If you keep the weight off, it will only be because you make permanent changes in your eating and lifestyle habits. I hope you do it.

Your body is not a “fat burning machine.” It is like anyone else’s body: weight is lost when you expend more calories than you consume.

Sadly, you’ve bought into the hype and the cute slogans. Please realize that Xyngular is expensive, dangerous crap. Be good to your body and simply eat well and exercise.

I would love to call your doctor, but laws regarding healthcare would prohibit him from talking to me about what you and he discussed.

If you embarked on a starvation diet with the consent and monitoring of your doctor, and if you lost weight, and if you kept it off (and continue to keep it off), then I applaud you. However, the products ARE overpriced, so you could have achieved your weight loss with a much lower cost. We’ll see how your long term results are, and whether you have to continue taking products like this (which I think are unhealthy and dangerous) in order to maintain the weight loss.

Contrary to your assertion, I have done plenty of research, and have determined that diets like this and products like this are dangerous. If your doctor isn’t actively involved when you’re taking these products, it is ill-advised.

Further, the misinformation spread by Jennifer McKinney and other Xyng-bots is disturbing. They have said that Xyngular has cured everything from arthritis to ADD to depression to migraines to joint problems to sleep problems and beyond. These types of statements violate laws, and they’re frankly dangerous. It makes me sad that people believe such nonsense and waste their hard-earned money on these crappy products.

Thanks for participating in the discussion!

i DISAGREE. This blogger has some serious personal bitterness and seems to be on a personal destruction crusade. I have a family that has found awesome success on this XYNGULAR product. No other diets worked for us as fast and as easily. I don’t think the author of this site has actually tried the product and she makes claims that are on very limited (NOT “LOTS OF RESEARCH” and seemingly bias information. If it does not work you can get all your money back so this blog seems to have the goal of personal destruction of Mckmomma under the guise of an honest qualified investigation. This is Not a real unbiased blog but someone with obvious bitterness and lots of free time.

David – I do not need to try the products to know they are dangerous. In fact, I would not try them for that very reason.

My only bias is that I love to expose liars and thieves: both of which McKinney has proven herself to be. Yes indeed, I am a very qualified fraud investigator, and I have (and will continue to) exposed Jennifer McKinney for the fraud that she is.

Neither the company, nor we distributors, claim that our products cure anything!! This isn’t medicine. But we do have people’s testimonies about things that are being helped by taking the products and their bodies getting the nutrition they need. I personally know people who’s stories I’ve shared. I myself have experienced relief from my allergies, asthma, acid reflux, seasonal depression, and pain, since I’ve been using these products. My immune system is so much stronger that I’ve only been sick once in over a year and a half. (I used to be sick quite frequently) So yes… I share stories too. But what we have is nutrition, NOT medicine. The food and drug administration does not ever evaluate supplements, ever, because they are not drugs. We do, however, have labs that are FDA approved. The fact of the matter is, when you give your body what it needs, nutritionally, and live a healthier lifestyle, it will begin to heal itself. I would challenge you to actually try the products for yourself before you pass judgement. They come with a 30 day 100% money back guarantee.
As far as the company goes, I’ve never seen another like it. People in this company are not territorial like in other companies, everyone helps everyone, and the company is very generous with bonuses, right from the very beginning. I personally know dozens of people who are making a significant amount of income. People who have even been able to retire from the corporate world. (even in small towns) The heart of the company is not about making a million dollars, it’s about helping a million people. Those who care more about themselves than they care about others probably won’t make it in this company. So you can cry hoax all you want, but some of us know the real truth about this one. God bless.

    • Tracy Coenen 06/22/2013 at 1:17 pm - Reply

Mary – How interesting that in the same paragraph in which you claim you make no claims that Xyng cures illnesses… you go on to tell us all the illnesses it has cured for you.

Xyng is not about nutrition. Nutrition is healthy eating. Taking “supplements” laced with silly and dangerous substances is not nutrition. You are selling snake oil.

The people who “make money” in MLMs like Xyngular only “make money” because hundreds or thousands below them in the pyramid lose money. That is not a business, and it certainly isn’t honorable.

The reason people are seeing other medical issues temporarily resolve is largely due to the rapid loss of weight. The weight most likely caused a lot of the other physical issues in the first place. My sister tried this out… Once…. And only one. I challenged her to a dual so to speak. I limited my calorie consumption to a 1100 per day and exercised 45 minutes per day. Limited carbohydrates and slightly increased my protein and fat consumption and increased my water intake volume. We both had around 25 lbs to lose. After the first week I had lost 5.5 lbs and she 3.2. Mainly water weight. Every following week I lost 2.5 to 4 lbs… She lost 14 lbs total in 8 days! Her back stopped hurting! Yay! She could not afford to buy another round, did not developed healthy eating or exercise habits and gained the entire amount of weight back within the next couple of weeks…I continued my routine and after 8 weeks I lost every lb I needed to lose… And I’ve kept it off for 5 years! She is still yo yo – ING diet to diet, and her weight is up and down. People who are willing to make the sacrifice of a little time to exercise everyday and eat a reasonable diet will lose weight and keep it off. This lazy thinking that just taking pills is going to help long term is asinine. If your overweight or obese it didn’t take 8 days to get unhealthy and it certainly won’t take 8 days to become healthy again. With weight loss the turtle wins the race!!!

  27. Mary 06/21/2013 at 3:56 pm - Reply

Yes.Your response to my email shows your character and maturity level loud and clear. There is nothing dangerous about these products or the ingredients or the weight loss program. On the contrary, I’ve never seen one that gives you more nutrition !! I have personally seen too many lives transformed to give any credence to any of the garbage you’ve posted here. My own health has been dramatically changed. You seem to be on a personal vendetta to discredit not only Jennifer, but also a very good and reputable company that truly cares about people. I also got a thumbs up from my health care professionals.
And by the way, You don’t even know that the FDA has nothing to do with supplements? They are supplements, not drugs. Very intelligent indeed.

    • Tracy Coenen 06/22/2013 at 1:20 pm - Reply

Mary – Starvation diets and DMAA are dangerous. Any reputable, objective source of information will tell you so.

I have no vendetta. I have simply identified a dishonest grifter. If Jennifer McKinney didn’t lie, there would be nothing to expose. But she does lie, and therefore I feel a sense of duty to alert all who may be conned into her web.

As for the FDA…. I haven’t even mentioned the FDA here, so I’m not sure what your point is.

There is a new company just launched called InNutra. My daughter is telling me about it. she was in Xyngular too. Is the federal govt. going to investigate or control these on-line companies? Are their products safe to consume?

  29. Tracy Coenen 07/18/2013 at 3:38 pm - Reply

Barbara – InNutra is the same trash, with a different name. It was “developed” by the same loser who created products for Xyngular.

Generally the government doesn’t do much to companies like this. The FDA controls drugs…. these are considered “supplements” so they are largely unregulated. Where the government does tend to get involved is making statements about things these supplements “cure.” Such statements are not allowed, and here is an example of legal action:

Tracy you are full of a tremendous amount of bitterness and I cant help but wonder if you have been in some way affected by something Jennifer has done to you whether directly or indirectly! Nor do I believe you will EVER admit it! That being said I would like to point out the simple Facts!!! You are here to bash Jennifer and Xyngular and you will stop at no cost to make that happen, but, if that is how you chose to spend your days i will just say that I feel sorry for you and the misery you live in and how you have allowed this topic to completely consume you and your happiness! There is only ONE maker and ONE judge and ALL things will be revealed that have not been repented of, so for that He will take care of and judge not YOU! Also I would like to add that for every person that has commented on the pros and cons of Xyngular, many of the pros have evidence from a doctor stating that the use of these products are safe, NONE of your comments have come from a doctors recommendation but rather from your opinions alone! For that I would urge individuals if they are considering the products or program to please take it to YOUR doctor and get his recommendation, dont let this one persons strong “opinions” deter you from making a decision that could very well bring you the relief you have been searcing for and not the “SNAKE OIL” you are being challenged to believe. if you ask me it would be you that is selling “SNAKE OIL” as you like to refer to it! Last but certainly not least Xyngular is ALL about making individuals make better food choices to better their health and increase overall wellness, the supplements help with MANY different things in your weight loss journey but again these products and this program is not only used for weight loss, I have personally seen first hand how these products have worked for my loved ones and can care less about any commission I have made in the process, since I am certain most people would agree that money is NO object to your loved ones improved health! Furthermore this program is NOT designed to live on or continue to do the 8 day DETOX (Because that is exactly what the 8 day cycle is) but rather to do a detox and then follow through with a healthy eating plan coupled with exercise so whle you may have SOME facts straight you are very much so twisting them to suite your personal vendeta! You are not looking to help anyone because if you were truly trying to “HELP” people you would stop mingling two seperate issues together!!!! If you do not like what JEnnifer has done or not done for that matter, then so be it but she has not developed these products nor has she designed this eating plan she has simply followed the program like everyone else and seen results. Her credibility has ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with the product line that has swept the nation and helped millions lose weight and feel great! Most people that are looking for weight loss need help, does that mean they cant do it on their own,,, Absolutely not, the problem is that most wont, so I know that you believe that slamming this company will help you to feel better about your personal attack and mission to sink Jennifer and maybe it does temperarily but long term it will not give you the peace and true joy you are searching for in life!

    • Tracy Coenen 08/01/2013 at 3:01 am - Reply

Dear ONE – I am sorry that you mistake my deep integrity and sense of right and wrong for bitterness. Our Lord calls us to hold one another to account for our actions. Thus, when Jennifer lies and schemes, we Christians are supposed to call her out on those sins. Yes, God will judge in the end, but on this earth we must hold one another accountable for right and wrong actions.

Xyngular has not “swept the nation.” It is a relatively small company that has sucked in believers, just like all MLMs do. The products are not amazing, and money IS an object for most people. (i.e. People have budgets and this overpriced junk should not be a part of those budgets.)

These products do not help people lose weight in a healthy way, and they certainly do not promote healthy long-term changes to lifestyle. As you can plainly see from this article, Jennifer herself has not gotten healthy with the products. She has starved and purged (with the help of Xyng) over and over and over and she is still obese. (As seen here –> https://securecdn.disqus.com/uploads/mediaembed/images/570/2031/original.jpg) That, my friend, is the proof that these products do not work in the long term.

Indeed, real doctors do not recommend starvation diets or the use of speed-like substances to suppress the appetite and cause other side effects. In the rare cases in which doctors do recommend these things, they only recommend that such things be done under very close supervision of the doctor. I challenge you to find a real doctor who thoroughly looks at all of the Xyng products and their ingredients and still recommends them to patients. I bet you won’t find any.

No, I don’t believe the testimonies of those who have taken the products and say “my doctor said its okay!” I suspect they have not shown all of these laxatives, diuretics, and speed-like substances to their doctors.

But back to Jennifer: She is peddling the Xyngular products, and therefore her credibility is entwined with them. She is a liar and a thief, and no matter how many names you call me or how many negative characteristics you falsely attribute to me will change that.

  33. ONE DREAM ONE TEAM 08/01/2013 at 8:27 am - Reply

I refuse to argue this mute point with you facts are facts doctors have and continue to approve these products, lives are being changed and that’s the bottom line! Whether Jennifer McKinney is or is not deceitful is on her and God and that IS the facts! All I will say for that matter is that God does tell US to encourage one another forgive one another and to most importantly love one another and if someone has wronged us to pray for them because Gods mercy is the only true mercy we will need! He does not call us to blog them and slam them and persecute them! But at least that is how my bible reads! I do not intend to falsely accuse you nor do I intend to try and slam you! I will however pray that this burden be lifted from your shoulders as I am certain it is a heavy load to carry! And I will encourage you once again to let go of this blog topic because it is poison to you and has consumed you for quite some time now it looks like! So please don’t misconstrued my intentions or my comments because my intentions are solely to straighten the facts that I know to be true! Of course this is your blog and you are welcoe to do as you please but I will not be posting anymore in it because I don’t want to be considered as someone that wants to attack you or argue with you! But encourage you and guide you my friend and that is what God truly wants for us fellow Christians alike! As in any business you will have individuals with integrity and without! That’s just the bottom line but I will tell you I have met the corporate team and as far as I can tell they are in this to help people change their lives for the better! And since you have never tried these products as I have you can not honestly say what they do for your body! Vitamin b12 is hardly speed nor is cayenne pepper! Chromium is a natural blood sugar stabilizer and the list goes on and on! The products average about $300 which hardly constitute overpriced “junk” look at what most people spend to be unhealthy and tell me that is too much!?!? I must respectfully disagree with you! I will not defend nor persecute Jennifer because I do not really know her I have met her just recently in Vegas and really didn’t talk to her but I will say this! She is a lot smaller than she was when she started and looks healthier too so that is never a bad thing! But whatever Jennifer’s story is none of us and I really do mean NONE of us know all the facts so instead of throwing stones we may want to step out of our glass house first! Every single one of us in this world has sinned and fallen short of the glory of GOD but I praise him for the forgiveness that he provides for each and every single one of us and (if we are truly sorry and truly repent) we are forgiven! I do wish that light will be shone on that for you and that The Lord lifts this burden from you and gives you peace 🙂

    “Mute” point ????? LOL

I may not have ALL the facts about Jennifer. But I have plenty of facts and evidence to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that she is a liar and a thief. You really ought to read the other articles about her which document her deceit.

Trust me dear, there is no “burden” that I am carrying. My conscience is clean. That’s what happens when one lives a life of integrity. From the start, I have simply set out to warn people about this lying, scamming grifter. You may not have noticed, but I am a fraud investigator, and Jennifer McKinney is one big fraud. I am simply using my talents and my blog to expose the truth so that people who care to research her can find out what an unethical piece of shit she is (and hopefully avoid doing business with her).

Yes, B12 and cayenne pepper are fine. You have conveniently left out of the discussion the potentially harmful substances in Xyng products, such as geranium root and beta phenylethylamine HC.

And finally… while Jennifer weighs less than she did at her heaviest, she is deceitful about the whole thing. She photoshops pictures to make herself look skinnier. She says she lost 80 pounds with Xyng, when the truth is she only lost PART of her weight with Xyng and has PUT BACK ON a significant amount of that weight. She doesn’t tell her victims that she has been yo-yoing with the Xyng products, and that her repetitive use of them is dangerous. I could go on and on, but you can read all the lies in the articles on this site. No need to repeat this.

Bottom Line: Jennifer McKinney is a liar and a thief, and as a fraud investigator it is my pleasure to help expose her. There’s nothing I hate worse that an unexposed fraud.

Hi Tracy, I LOVE your honesty, and it really looks like you did your research with this company. I have a few friends that do it, and well, was quite shocked in the ingredient list, but most of all, how much you DON”T eat. I am very familiar with MLM’s, and by no means expect to be a millionaire with one. I understand that with motivation, diet, and exercise you will lose weight, however, I could never get my butt off the couch, and when I did, I swear I would just gain weight. I ended up joining [another scammy MLM] in August 2013. I had tried Jenny Craig, and Weight Watchers, going to the gym, and “eating” healthy, but it seemed that nothing would work. I did [scammy MLM]’s 24 day challenge, which combines eating healthy (a lot actually) and taking the supplements. I was so concerned with what I was taking, that I took them to my naturopath to evaluate. I have to say, he gave me a thumbs up. I am 90 days in, 20lbs down, and 22 inches smaller. The best part.. I still eat. The challenge was just a catalyst to get my body to do what is was supposed to do. All I can say, is now I can do it on my own, but because of this, I feel and look amazing. My skin is glowing, and I don’t have the insulin response I had before. Thank you for your honesty, but most of all, thank you for writing this.

Tracey, is there anyone to report to (or anyone who cares, is a better question) that the people selling this Xyngular crap in my area are marketing it to parents of children and children with things like ADHD ADD, etc. Even kids with Autism, and associated problems.
They are feeding this stuff to kids as young as 18 months old!!
In researching this stuff, I found that one ingredient is from the family of amphetamines. Another is the stuff that caused liver& kidney failure in some people (though they will swear…SWEAR that it has been taken out, I found it under another name on the ingredient list.
They are killing these kids, or at least setting them up for serious serious health issues in their future.
I want so badly to report this to SOMEONE! Make SOMEONE aware.

Tracy, thank you for all the great info. I am also getting a little irritated at my “friends” suggesting Advocare products for my 6yo son w/ADHD. He is currently managed holistically (not on meds) with coping skills and other home remedies. But, as a nurse, I know that some of the ingredients could cause electrolyte imbalances that could have detrimental effects on basic life functions. We’re talking neuromuscular junction, heart, and brain activity. If I had no knowledge of any of this, I might be inclined to say “Sure! I’ll try it…sounds great!” It’s criminal that these people are marketing to others for “cures”, and they have absolutely ZERO medical authority to do so.
    Keep up the good work!

I thought i was smarter then this! I can’t believe I was pulled in! I was probably spending about $200.00 a month & there was a few months i spent 400.00!! That’s a lot of money!! This post will likely never see the light of day on this blog, but there’s is another side Ms. Coenen doesn’t want to acknowledge.

After reading the article and a number of the posts along with Ms. Coenen’s responses, it’s evident Tracy Coenen has an axe to grind.

What surprised me was the immaturity, pettiness, and argumentative attitude displayed in so many of them. I must admit it is a bit startling and disconcerting to see this coming form what appears to be an accomplished author and highly educated person.

Every business model has its flaws regardless of industry or niche. More often than not the flaws come from the people who run businesses not the model itself.

I have ownership in and work for a software company that provides a tax related, expense tracking system for the self-employed. No we are not an MLM… We have very large corporate clients in real estate, the trucking industry, insurance industry, and even direct sales or mlm or whatever you want to call it.

There is deceptive marketing, exaggerated claims, and outright fraudulent business practices perpetrated every day in every industry. But if you read this blog you’d think only mlm exhibited those traits.

Perhaps Ms. Coenen had a bad experience of her own in MLM or maybe a parent or sibling or close friend. Regardless, she has obviously taken up the cross to abolish this industry and that’s her prerogative.

The only problem I have with her blog is how she covers an entire industry with one blanket narrative, dragging the good companies down into the mud with the bad. Whether she believes it or not there are very good companies in the Direct Selling space that provide opportunities for people without access to business capital to build a business and change their lives.

I’ve seen it many times over.

Are there losers? Sure. Just the like the family who opened the Chinese restaurant I once frequented. It was open less than a year. They weren’t very good business people and it showed. They lost tens of thousands of dollars. But they didn’t cry victim and look to the Franchise for blame. Where’s Ms. Coenen on stories like this one? It would be easy to say they were lured into starting a Franchise by the slick marketing, enticing revenue estimates, or just the allure of being a business owner.

But in the end they made a choice, they wanted a shot at being their own boss, determining their own earnings, and enjoying the benefits that come from that autonomy. They gave it their best effort but it didn’t work out. Wash, rinse, repeat…

If you want to see a true pyramid, diagram the structure of any Fortune 500 corporation and determine what it takes to rise to the top of that triangle. Not that having a job is a bad thing. It’s not. But don’t trash people who want more than the 9 to 5 experience and pay.

Failure happens in every industry every day. Tracy Coenen just has her crosshairs focused on one.

    • Tracy Coenen 07/15/2014 at 10:58 am - Reply

Doug – It is not my objective to abolish MLM ,although that would be wonderful. That’s not going to happen, so my objective is to educate people.

Unfortunately, MLM is not like real business, in which there are winners and losers based on effort and market conditions. MLM is set up in a way that GUARANTEES that 99%+ will lose money, no matter what they do. It is not a business, no matter what you call it. It is not “direct selling”…. it is a recruitment scheme with a large number of guaranteed losers. That is why I speak out against it, and why there is no such thing as a good MLM.

  48. Tracy Coenen 07/15/2014 at 10:59 am - Reply

Also… my only “axe to grind” is that the entire MLM industry is a fraud, and I am a fraud investigator. I just like exposing the truth!

I don’t know what makes you the “leading expert” on direct sales and network marketing, but the only thing that I get from all of your negativity is that at some point you tried it and failed miserably so it’s all a fraud.

I will agree with you on some points, there are MLM companies that over promise and under deliver, there are MLM companies that charge way too much for their products, there are MLM companies that pay you more for introducing more people to the company. Fact is fact and that can’t be disputed.

So now that we have established the facts……tell me HOW is an MLM company different than ANY other company on the face of the planet? You can take ANY brick and mortar business out there and say the exact same things, but for some reason you have decided that you must attack MLM companies. If you’re going to put a message out to the public, at least make it unbiased and cover the ENTIRE board of ALL businesses!

The ONLY thing about an MLM business that is different than your more traditional brick and mortar business is that it gives the average, ordinary individual a chance to build their own business without investing $50-$100,000 to just get started! I don’t know where you’re from, but I know in my little back woods town in rural Pennsylvania, if I wanted to open a gift shop downtown, it would cost me AT LEAST $3,000 a month just to be in business! What’s $50-$100 compared to $3,000???!!!

To challenge the comments left by you and some others….I am going to assume that YOU are the owner/boss where you work. Oh, that’s not right? You mean you’re working for someone and THAT person is making money from you by doing nothing? OMG are you being scammed!! Get out now! You should never work for someone and make them money!!! Get the point? EVERY BUSINESS IN THE WORLD operates this way….again the MLM company just gives the ordinary, everyday guy like me the chance to be the owner without losing my rear end and my life if it doesn’t go as planned.

I will also agree that there are MLM companies out there that their products are just junk….same as brick and mortar stores out there too….but that being said, if you believe in a product, can use it yourself and love it, then WHY on earth wouldn’t you share it with others?

As you can probably guess, I am involved in direct sales. My company is a marketing platform though that any business can use to help grow their business. Everyone on the planet has heard of Hootsuite, my company puts Hootsuite to shame with everything that it offers. It is a stand alone product and I have made a very nice income without having to “build a team.”

The moral to my rant is that every negative thing that you and everyone else has said about MLM companies, CAN BE SAID FOR ALL BUSINESSES!! Reading some of your comments almost feels like a personal attack, making me sound like some kind of rip off artist or something, when nothing could be further from the truth! I help as many people as I can in my community and my business is just as legitimate as the local flower or gift shop….I am even listed in the business directory. I work hard, I work seriously, I provide marketing solutions for small businesses, just like 10’s of 1,000’s of others in the country “working for large corporations.” You don’t say anything about them, so why attack me???

Just the thoughts from the other side.

James – Thank you for calling me a leading expert! No, I did not “fail miserably” at MLM.

MLM is not a business, so it cannot be compared to real businesses. It is a rigged game in which more than 99% of the participants are guaranteed to lose money. MLM is completely different from a real job. People with real jobs get paid to do their work, while MLMs make everyone pay to play.

MLM products are by and large junk and always overpriced. The concept of “direct sales” is bullshit. These companies are recruiting schemes with bullshit products as the front for the recruiting.

Yes, if you are recruiting people into MLM, you are a scam artist because you know full well that no matter how hard they work, they are almost guaranteed to lose money.

And I looked up your MLM. It is a complete scam, getting people to pay for nonsense social networking tools that are practically worthless. You are simply using their bogus tools to get people to pay money into the pyramid.

    Hi Tracy,

Is INNUTRA related to Visionaries Worldwide? A scammer (Lisa Hagel) in Spokane, WA, is targeting the elderly with her pills. I hope she can be exposed by you or anyone reading this.

Here it is the day we knew was coming. A few weeks back I made the decision that ethics were more important to me than money. I had worked. 70-80 hours a week for a year building a beautiful team that I loved like family. I watched the top executives destroy that. I watched them plan an elaborate plot to open a competing business, deliberately cross recruit teams away and purposefully sink the business we had fought so hard to build. We’ll today the announcement comes that the new company has officially (merged) acquired ect the original business. Would you sit back and watch this happen quietly just to collect a paycheck ? Well when we asked what was happening the resolution was for the president to shut down my account freezing my assets and paychecks in the company. I was told that I would receive a legal letter explaining their position for the seizure of my funds and give me a chance to appeal the decision. That letter never came. So they were able to take an entire months pay without any repercussion because they knew that the business was not going to be there. Why? Because I was brave enough to ask that this company which I loved have just a little bit of ethics? Well the waters are muddy and my heart is broken but luckily those of us who decided to stand up for what was right are finding our way. We may have forfeited $$ but we are able to hold our heads high. There are hundreds of amazing products in the world today. When you choose a product to use for your personal health pick one that has people with integrity behind it. If you were a customer, friend or business partner and you need more info call me. I have not spoken out to date because I was so hoping that Innutra would do the right thing . I sacrificed a year of my life to help them build a business and they repaid me by destroying our team, taking the paycheck I had earned and deceiving hundreds if people. Don’t be fooled if you worked you would expect the money you earned to be paid out. I was terminated without cause and if you support FIT or the buy the products they sell you are condoning unethical business practice . I am sorry for anyone who was hurt by this mess.

Anyone that calls this a scam hasn’t tried it or wasn’t willing to put the effort in to get healthy or to promote it. I am in my fifth month and I made $1375 last month. So keep bad mouthing the program and those of us dedicated to the business will keep making money and keep helping people get healthy.

When I started, I FULLY expected to use the 30 Day Money back guarantee. But after 8 Days, I was down 12 pounds, and OFF Xanax and Ambien. In 6 weeks, I was off Lithium, pain/muscle relaxers, arthritis, allergy AND migraine meds, and had lost 27 pounds. In 3 months, down 40 pounds from a size 14 to a size 5. AND made $2,000 that month, helping others with many of the same issues. So YES.. it does work, I feel great, 7 months in, and in a size 4, and NOT back on chemical medications. THATS NO PLACEBO. It literally saved my life. Living with Bipolar, heavily medicated is NOT a life.. and NOW, I have a happy life.. and have replaced my 70 hour a week salary.. working from home, happy, with my grandchildren. So DONT talk about what you OBVIOUSLY dont know about.

  61. Tracy Coenen 03/04/2015 at 9:01 am - Reply

No, Shill, that’s not true. Because of the way MLMs are set up (they are pyramid schemes) 99% or more of participants are GUARANTEED to lose money. It doesn’t matter how hard they try, they are going to lose money because that’s how the plans are set up.

And no, we don’t believe you “made” $1,375 last month. You might have received commissions of $1,375, but after you subtract all your expenses, you most likely lost money. The fact that you’ve told an outright lie by not mentioning your expenses is very telling. If the program was so wonderful, you wouldn’t have to lie.

Tracy my dear face it. You are the liar. Shame on you. Why would you do this? You have no facts yet you act like you know it all. Shameful. That is what this country has come to. Just say what ever you want as long as you “believe” it to be true. I have worked my but off in these five months. I have changed my lifestyle and am eating clean and healthy. I lost 30 lbs. My Cardiologist is in love with the program. I am making money and it really angers me that someone like you (most likely fat sick and broke) that probably eats burger king and KFC and sits on the couch all day would spew this venom. You are a ignorant at best and a liar if not.

  62. Tracy Coenen 03/04/2015 at 10:36 am - Reply

Shill – Thanks for participating, but if you can’t stick to the facts, you aren’t allowed to comment. I have plenty of facts. The facts here come from Xyngular’s own materials. The “diet” is simply a starvation diet, supplemented with overpriced shakes that aren’t really good for you. Consumers deserve to know the truth about these scams. You may have lost weight through the starvation diet, but (a) it wasn’t a healthy way to lose weight, and (b) it is almost guaranteed that you will gain the weight back.

Here’s one huge difference between you and me: I have nothing to gain from exposing Xyngular and its representatives as scammers. I make no money from exposing the truth. You and Xyngular, on the other hand, have a lot to gain from continuing to push the lies. You want to make money, and you will do so by lying to consumers. You want me to shut up because every time someone tells the truth about this disgusting company, it is less likely you can sell the scam to innocent consumers.

    Please take your venom elsewhere.

P.S. I am fit, healthy, and financially secure. I eat well, don’t take magic pills like Xyngular, and make a wonderful living from a legitimate business. I don’t have to scam people to make ends meet, and that’s a wonderful feeling.

Thank you for this post. I know it has been here a while, but it covers what I was already thinking – another fad diet. There’s something shady and disturbing when people come out of the woodwork with no negative reviews. The last company I dealt with that hid all negative reviews ended up dying my skin bright pink with cheap sheets at an inflated price. It is safe to say I am suspicious of anything that tries to hide or tear down what people are saying against it.

Fad diets have always been and always will be dangerous. Starting with the damage to the kidneys it will inevitably cause. I’m seeing actual clinical studies surfacing for this sort of thing that are showing kidney and liver shutdown, as well as peripheral nerve damage, cardiovascular damage… among other things. All for a quick fix, rather than real changes.

The most frightening part of this is that it was given to a child.

Thanks to my xyngular family IM healthier I’m happier and I’m getting lighter. I still weigh 324 lbs I have a long rode ahead of me but I’m moving in the right direction. My doctor is not foolish enough to “approve” the garbage called Xyngular. We as Christians are NOT called to judge the sinful actions of others. There is nothing “Christian” about you, or this blog. Swearing, berating, blatant unacceptance, unforgiveness, name-calling…..really? These things do not help anyone, and they certainly don’t cast a very good light on you, your integrity, or professionalism. For your own sake, I urge you towards a path of encouragement, love, grace, mercy, patience, gentleness, all the fruits of what being a Christian truly bears. You will be transformed from the inside out, and so will those around you. That, my friend, is how you change the world.

Unforgiveness? Is that even a word? And who am I supposed to be forgiving and for what?

It is true that I have “blatant unacceptance” for the lies of Jennifer and the lies of people who push Xyngular products. Indeed, I will berate those who lie and pretend they’re “helping others” with this snake oil.

Encouragement? I do this all the time. I encourage people the turn their backs on lying liars who lie, like Jennifer McKinney and Xyngular pushes (both the company itself and its representatives).

I don’t need any transformation, but those of you pushing Xyng definitely do. Leave your evil ways behind and stop lying about these garbage products in order to make a buck. THAT, my friend, is how you change the world.

hmmm interesting, I found this after speaking to Jennifer and was about to join…then this article freaked me out. BUT thank God for the commenters and thank God I read them! Isn’t it illegal to publically defame someone on the internet? If I were Jennifer I would sue you! First of all a lot of people have issues with MLM businesses and those are the 9-5 people who work as slaves for others and have no discipline to work for themselves. There is nothing wrong with a pyramid program. Many people have become wealthy from it and it’s those with business minds that do. The people who are drones and cannot work for themselves whine and complain they were somehow scammed. No, you scammed yourself by being lazy. But even if you don’t wanna work for yourself in an MLM business, I am appalled that you are on here trashing a woman and I would hope you do indeed get sued. If it were me, I’d have you in court right away! As far as the advice Jennifer gave me regarding diet…well see diets are like MLM’s…people call them FADS SCAMS…when THEY fail them because THEY lacked the discipline. But for the record, all she told me was to eat clean. No specific diet. Americans eat far too much food and I can assure you that we don’t need what you think we do to live and thrive. So even if there was a diet associated with this, its not a starvation plan…it’s a eat to live not live to eat plan…and apparently you couldn’t do it and so now you are on here bashing people and a company and a product and a business plan…Look, in the end, the only thing that doesn’t work, is a bad attitude!

  81. Tracy Coenen 06/16/2015 at 8:18 pm - Reply

LOL Angela – Jennifer has nothing to sue me for because I have told the truth. Defamation includes lies. Since I have told the absolute truth here, I have nothing to worry about.

I have issues with MLMs and I am not a 9 to 5 slave, as you call it. I am successfully self-employed (and, incidentally, I don’t have to scam anyone to make a buck). MLM is a scam because more than 99% of people lose money. It is not a business… it is a scam.

And you’re right: eating well and exercising is the secret to losing weight. The secret is not these horrible pills, shakes, and potions. But don’t take my word for it that Xyngular doesn’t work. Just look at Jennifer. She is just as fat as she was before she started Xyngular. Anyone who would take any sort of diet or health advice from her is an absolute fool.

And of course, anyone who would take any financial advice from her is even more pathetic. The woman is losing her fourth house, yet she is bragging on social media that she is becoming closer to “financial freedom.” Believe me, multiple foreclosures do not make you financially free.

    [unsubstantiated medical claims removed]

My point is that everybody is different and may react differently and maybe the product or products are not for everybody for a variety of reasons, maybe your physician was too lazy to truly research and look into the ingredients in the supplements, maybe your physician knows your level of commitment and compliance and knew you would not be a good candidate for the program but to attack a company and a product with which you have no personal experience is not only illegal but ignorant. I have heard that “ignorance is blissful” however. If you are against MLMs, accounting procedures, Ms. MckMama personally, or just bitter because you pedal some other product that you think is better but are not having success whether physically or financially, you have your right to your opinion. It is just that however an opinion not based on facts. Therefore, it would be advisable to you if you have not had a personal experience with Xyngular and their products that you remove your comments attacking and criticizing this company.

Kristi – Why do you perceive my willingness to tell the truth about scams as “anger” ??? I’m not angry in general, although I do get upset when people lie to push crappy MLM products. But overall, no, I’m not angry. I’m just fed up with Jennifer Mckinneys lies and scams. 🙂

I will strongly suggest that a consumer think twice and hard about using these products. Though they may work for the selected few, the products did not work at all for me. The program was quite confusing and the schedules were not suited to a normal persons lifestyle. Not to mention, my Canadian contacts knew nothing of the apparently “new Weight Loss” box added by Xyngular. I was skeptical but decided to try as there was a 30 day money back guarantee. The was the biggest mistake ever! It’s been almost 10 days product has been returned and still after numerous emails and “long distance” call to the U.S., still waiting for a REFUND. Very poorly handled.

My friend showed me the box today (she joined a few months ago). She has lost over 30 lbs.

She showed me the list of food: “if you just eat the food, you’ll lose weight” I told her. “You don’t need the vitamins or juice.”

A woman came into my store yesterday and I just happened to mention that I had tendonitis as we were talking about shoes….anyways as soon as I said that she turned the conversation to this “wonderful” cleansing program she sells that will”cure my problem” and also could potentially “make me lots of money”. Of course it was Xyngular! I was going to meet with her today. did my research first and read yours! Thanks! I cancelled the appointment!

Mary – Emotional? This article is anything but emotional. It is FACT BASED. And the article is not “triggered by dislike for a particular person.” It is triggered by:

    – dislike of MLM, which cheats millions of people out of their hard earned money each year by lying to them about the money they can make from the bogus “opportunity”
    – dislike of Jennifer’s constant lying and cheating (i.e. cheating creditors out of money she owes them, lying to the bankruptcy court in order to fraudulently discharge her debts, lying about her weight loss to push crappy diet pills, etc.)

This article features the ugly truth about Jennifer McKinnney. I’m sorry that upsets you.

Hi Mike – There is no such thing as a “licensed fraud investigator.” But yes, I am a fraud investigator, and no it’s not “self-proclaimed.” Have a look around the site. I’ve been declared an expert in numerous state and federal courts and I’ve done lots and lots of forensic accounting engagements. (Hundreds, to be more precise). I’m not sure what “issues” you see. I’m sorry if you’re upset that I’m exposing the truth about Xyngular and Jennifer McKinney. I just can’t help myself! I love providing consumers with information!

Thank You Tracy for this information on XYNGULAR, I was turned on to this through facebook recently and like anyone I was interested when I seen the results posted. Unlike most people I do my own research and found enough Info about this with your article to know that I would NOT try it, I have a close friend that swears by it but have not had a chance to talk with her at this point. I would like to however talk a little more about the MLM’s, I went to (one of the biggest MLM’s all time) a Amway convention/seminar by invitation a long time ago and if you are familiar with the pyramid schemes of the 80’s & 90’s or beyond then you would know that is what all MLM’s are based off of. In a nutshell the people at the top of the pyramid who start it will make money until it stops or they start a new one, all the people at some point that join are at risk as they are only feeding the people above them. whoever is left with the hot potato losses money/time, my family was brought into a pyramid scheme in the 80’s $1000.00 buy in per person with the pyramid consisting of 1 at the top, then 2,4,8,16. Each person was required to bring in a minimum of 2 people to fill the pyramid, once the pyramid was full it divides in 1/2 with the bottom row needing it’s 16 new people. When the pyramid filled it paid the top person $16,000.00 and he was required to get back in and bring in 1 person, the 2 people in the 2nd row now have there own pyramids (which means there are 2 running at this point) and when they fill each of them get $16K. From what I understand these were everywhere and running very good until they had no momentum which caused them to stop (I also remember the police were investigating a bunch as well), when they stopped all people under the new pyramid lost their money. MLM’s are different then such a blatant scheme as these were/are but what they do is either force you to pay way too much for the product or you pay very high membership fees, they suck all the money out as fast as they can so when it stops working they have walked away with millions of dollars. If you are a good sales person and with the right tactic you can make money at anything but there are way better ways than this, I see this is still running good and I would hope that you keep up the good fight. The one thing they do very good is hide as much info as possible about there products, I personal never trust anything that has to be ran through a rep before you can find out any real info on the product unless you dig for it. Take Care

Tracy I love your honesty with stating the facts without being overzealous. There are a lot of gullible people out there looking for an easy way to get rid of many conditions they have brought on themselves. I was overweight but talked to my doctor , had a physical, had blood work done, then started on a very well balance of diet and exercise . I am down 31 lbs so far. But it has taken almost eight months, giving up sodas, and exercising regularly. I cheat every once in a while but I feel great , and sleep well. I have gone from a size 22 down to a size 14 and continuing on my goal to a 10! No fancy diets, no pills, just taking full responsibility for my healt without spending a ton of money or bilking others out of theirs! Have to wonder if these people who believe the claims of Xyngular are also the ones that decided not to vaccinate their children!

I bought the Ignite Kit from one of my wife’s friends and have been on it for just over 3 days now. I will not deny that I have lost weight, significant weight in fact (6 pounds in 3 days), but it has come at a cost. I have followed the program to a t and feel awful. I am constantly shaky, jittery, and nauseous. I also haven’t slept for more than 4 hours in 3 days and normally I have no problem sleeping 6-8 hours a night. I understand that not everyone will have side effects but the fact that there are a good chunk of people who do should be warning enough not to try this product.

The reason I am posting however is not because of my personal use of this product but because of the people who claimed that their doctors signed off on this program. I called my doctor yesterday and he called me back today and proceeded to chew my ass. I honestly thought he was coming through the phone to get me. One of the ingredients in Axion is senna tea leaves, which is FDA approved as a temporary laxative, but is known to be dangerous to your body if used regularly. How is that not put in big letters on the front of the box? The bottle of Xyng says to consult a physician if you are drug tested for sports reasons. I’m pretty sure I don’t want to put something in my body that could cause a positive drug test. I just don’t understand how any doctor could sign off on this program. I am quitting now and calling the company to see how legit their 30 day 100% money back guarantee really is.

I read the comments and am wowed by the hatred for one woman this person has so much that she would say such horrible things. I was a single mom of 5 kids when I found this and had been diagnosed with melanoma and a brain aneurysm and this system changed my life. And you eat real food every day during ignite – That has never changed on the 6.5 years I have been using these products. Anyone that says otherwise is greatly misinformed or lying. Also anyone who has ever struggled with their weight knows this is an emotional battle and no product in the world can overcome unhealthy food choices and creating healthy habits – teaching healthy food choices is a HUGE part of Xyngular’s plan and the only way to long term success. Jennifer had great success because she followed it and so will others who follow it but I feel oh go back to eating unhealthy you’re going to gain weight. I don’t know what all this stuff about Jennifer is and I don’t care to get into it but I can tell you I’ve seen the lives she has helped change and regardless of what anyone thinks about her personally the people who can play with their kids again like me , people who don’t have to miss work, people who have their confidence back and are able to be their best- They are really grateful and I’m really grateful. We aren’t all the same – some people are allergic to water or the sun- you can find bad reviews on Mother Theresa- and Xyngular understands that not everything works for everybody but it works for the majority and for those it doesn’t they can sending back empty containers just have to have it postmarked within 30 days of purchase date and get a full refund on their products. What more could anyone ask for? This system helped me get my quality of life back. It taught me how to live healthier so I can teach my kids and because I’ve paid forward this blessing I am now able to raise my babies and spend quality time with them and Xyngular has given us a life we didn’t think was possible – That’s a direct blessing from God and how insulting to our creator to say anything else.

Mitzi – Yes, you eat real food when doing Ignite, but not nearly enough of it. The Xyngular diet is a starvation diet, plain and simple. Plus some supplements with ingredients that are unhealthy. If you learned to eat well, then congratulations. Unfortunately, the Xyngular program is not designed for long term success for anyone. If you take a look at the people who are selling for the company, even they eventually gain their weight back, with a few exceptions to that rule. The woman discussed in this article is a fraud, plain and simple. And oh… look how well Xyngular has worked for her. 2013 on the left, 2016 on the right.

Well unfortunately for you this article surfaced again. And your “facts” are wrong. I’ve lost 52 pounds and maintained it for over a year. I make more income in this company that I ever did in my in home daycare.

More importantly than that, we eat. We eat a lot. We are not a low calorie plan. And instead of picking on one leader, maybe you should focus on the thousands who have had a great success! Your article is a bunch of crap. And while you continue to bash these amazing products I’ll continue helping people get their lives back.

  115. Tracy Coenen 04/19/2017 at 1:22 pm - Reply

Sabrina – The plan the company sets forth is indeed a low calorie plan. Here is the ignite system. You drink three shakes and eat two small servings of protein. That’s completely unhealthy.

    – Take 1 XYNG first thing in the morning on an empty stomach (Allow 30-60 min before eating)
    – You will be using 3 Lean shakes per day (at breakfast, lunch and dinner)
    – In one of your Lean shakes, add 4-6 ounces of Xyngular Super Fruit Global Blend.
    – To maximize results, use only water, skim or low-fat milk (or other low-calorie liquid) when making your shakes.
    – Mid-morning snack of 4-6 ounces of turkey, lean fish or steak.
    – Take 2 Accelerate capsules around 1:00 pm.
    – Afternoon snack of 2-4 ounces of turkey, lean fish or steak.
    – If needed, take 1 XYNG in the early afternoon for energy and appetite suppression.
    – Drink ½ your body weight in ounces of water per day. (For example, if you weigh 150 pounds, drink 75 ounces of water per day)
    – Take 2 Flush capsules before bed with warm water, tea, or other hot beverage.

Due to the nature of these pyramid schemes, you’re only “making” money because a bunch of people below you are losing money. That’s not a business.

Thank you for so boldly exposing the truth, Tracy. I am extremely health conscious and, therefore, looked into the ingredients in Xyngular products when friends began trying to push them. All I had to know was that they contain sucralose (a serious migraine trigger) and DMAA (which, if I understand rightly, acts like an amphetamine, which would explain the need for Xyngular’s sleep aid). What confuses me most is how company’s like this become a god to so many. When you call attention to even a potential problem you have with Xyngular, they get very offended. They’ve placed their faith in these products in an extreme and unwise way. One seller told my dear friend to quit questioning and just “trust the product.” I’m baffled! When I see consumers so blindly trusting a product, that’s all I need to know to run the other way.

Even before reading this, we had come to the conclusion that it was a pyramid scheme. Scary how many have actually went crazy over this.

Tracy- I am appalled that so many people are so desperate to lose weight that they will try anything, and also noted that several RNs are in the MLM distribution pyramid scheme of Xyngular- posting testimonials whether TRUE OR NOT, how Xyngular got them off their meds for diabetes, sleep apnea, asthma etc.. Not one of them has been truthful about stating that ANY weight loss program, especially one that has a very unsafe 8 day starvation, “Detox” program- full of caffeine and laxatives to purge your digestive system, should first be discussed with your physician who knows your health issues!! SHAME ON THOSE RNS- they can legally get in big trouble by misleading the social media public to buy there products with FB enticements of FREE OFFERS,!!
As RNs we should be patient advocates, and patient safety should always come first, but with those nurses selling Xyngular on social media, making their bank accounts fatter, ( if that is possible as at the bottom of a Pyramid scheme) at the expense of health safety of others- inviting people to buy these Xyngular products without the Company Xyngular having any clinical studies, evidenced based research done stating that the ingredients in these products are safe- that IS NURSING MALPRACTICE!!! Buyers of Xyngular beware- do not buy anything until you do the research, and if there is no CLINICALLY PROVEN SCIENTIFIC RESEARCH, not just a bunch of pics of peoples TRUE OR NOT TRUE TESTIMONIALS, if you can’t buy the product yourself without going through a paid distributor for the product- who will be getting a commission DONT DO IT!!! Better health does not mean being stupid and unsafe- you have only one life, there are so many qualified and HEALTHY weight loss programs that will help you, under the guidance of your physician of course!!!

Went 2 1/5 years without doing the program and maintained my weight loss of the 35 lbs. Started program 2 1/2 years later and lost an additional 20 lbs. And now have kept all 55+ lbs off for 5 years. SO not only does this system work, it is life time sustainable PERIOD!! You have posted so much misinformation that it is actually appalling! I can not believe you are so threatened by a system that actually works. If I were you, I would put your energy into the #1 company in my opinion and start earning millions like others in our company! Oh that is right, this is just our opinion! Tracy

I did the Xyngular program for a month off and on. The first 8 days were amazing because I lost 10 pounds and looked and felt great. But now, I have regular diarrhea and migranes and am constantly in uncomfortable pain. I was very blinded by the company’s promises. I am disappointed in myself that I actually went through with a program with so many red flags.

First, anyone can say anything, and claims should be taken with a grain of salt.

Second, humans were healthy long before supplements were invented.

Thirdly, burning more than your calorie intake will always end in calorie burning success.

Lastly, I am a naturally healthy person, just obese. This product made me an unhealthy person.

After quiting the product I gained my weight back.

I have recently lost 30 pounds by lowering my sugar and carb intake and increasing my fat intake, along with light cardio. My health issues from Xyngular still occur, but I am hoping that my uneducated disicion to take the product didn’t give me life long damages.

All I can say is desperate people, like me, will do anything to lose weight or have a miracle cure. But all there is here is a good old fashion placebo effect.

Amanda – Congratulations on losing weight the smart way! We’ve become so conditioned to look for quick fixes! These starvation diets are harmful, and the supplements are nonsense. People need to get more active and make better choices with their food, including eating healthier foods and controlling portions. It’s not easy to do this consistently, but it’s the only way to make a lifelong change that will keep the weight off!

I absolutely love the Xyngular products that I have tried so far. Along with the added coaches, free consultations. & free support I’ve got from them, I have managed to lose more weight quicker than any other diet I’ve ever tried before, along with feeling healthier than I ever have.

Sure, the initial cost for the starter kit is a little pricey, but well worth it! And now, I only reorder the products as I need them. And I no longer buy other multi-vitamins, protein shakes, or any other supplements that I have in the past. It’s way more affordable that you’d think!

I love the system they use doing 8-day cleanses, then 2 weeks (or more) doing the diet of my choice to maintain and/or even lose more, and then doing another 8-day cleanse….until I reach my goal weight. I’ve never heard anyone from Xyngular say that you should do a cleanse for any longer than the 8 days, or any sooner than two weeks in between.

I’ve done plenty of cleanses in the past, along with a lot of research on the benefits, and there is nothing unhealthy about them, especially if you’re using amazing supplements to compensate for the low calorie intake. And with the other supplements, you get the energy you typically lack during a cleanse and they keep you from feeling hungry & having cravings. It’s by far the easiest and safest way to do a cleanse!

With only having to do a cleanse 1-2 times per month, and losing 15-20lbs per month, I don’t feel like I’m on a super strict diet all the time. To me, this is a much healthier option, and a much enjoyable method of losing weight. And during the 8 days I am cleansing my body of toxins and losing weight, aside from the normal detox symptoms, I feel great!

My first 8-day cleanse I went from 160 –> 151lbs,…9lbs! And on my second cleanse I went from 154–>145lbs…another 9lbs, and I only have 10lbs to go until I reach my goal weight! My boyfriend on the other hand, he lost 17.2 lbs during his first 8-day cleanse! Neither of us could have done this without their amazing products and our coaches & support group.

  126. Tracy Coenen 11/20/2017 at 10:37 pm - Reply

Angela – The products are so wonderful that in between the cleanses, you GAINED 3 pounds??? You’ve bought into the lie of the cleanse. These nonsense products aren’t removing toxins. Your liver is removing toxins, and your liver is free! Xyngular is an unhealthy system, and nearly everyone gains the weight back once they stop using these sketchy products.

From reading the details of your post, Tracy, I know your knowledge of the Xyngular system and how it works is lacking tremendously. I don’t know the woman you speak of, but sense you have some vendetta against her or the company as a whole. I have used the Xyngular system, have had great results, and have had TWO doctors approve them for my use. Xyngular doesn’t claim to “cure” any ailments, but there are many of us who have used their system/products and can explain our results from the changes we’ve made while on it. There are no “magic potions” – only good quality supplements and a plan that works when you follow it. This is not a system where you don’t eat/starve yourself. You actually consume foods more often in smaller quantites. It is not a system of “extreme calorie restriction”. The goal is to learn to eat REAL, healthy food and take quality supplements. Our food quality in the US is poor compared to years ago, so supplementation is a must these days. These supplements are plant-based and DO NOT contain any harmful substances. The director of product development is dedicated to the contents of these products and delivers only the best for the whole system. As for the MLM business model – name a company that doesn’t have a multi-level system in place. You have a boss, who has a boss, who has a boss, etc…… It is a great business model that works well for anyone that is willing to put time in like a regular 9 to 5, but be in control of your own day and activities. My suggestion would be to spend less time spewing hate towards people and this company and more time trying out the products OR at least getting your facts straight. You are uninformed in regards to the Xyngular system of health and wealth. I’m sure you would do a 180 after spending a month on the Xyngular way of health system! Challenge accepted???? I’m sure you won’t.

Trudi – No thanks, I don’t get involved in pyramid schemes. I actually fight against pyramid schemes and the lies they promote. Speaking of lies…

    1. No vendetta against Jennifer, I just don’t like the lies she has told and the fraud she has committed, and I wanted inform others about the truth.
    2. No vendetta against Xyngular, I just know the truth about how harmful MLM is and the fact that 99% of distributors will lose money. I am committed to continuing to educate people about this truth.
    3. The Xyngular system DOES promote severe calorie restriction. You can see right here how low the allowed calories are: http://www.sequenceinc.com/fraudfiles/wp-content/uploads/2013/02/xyngular-ignite-schedule.pdf
    4. Doctors DO approve low calorie diets, but they’re not recommended for most people. They can be dangerous and not done right. They should be done under the supervision of a doctor, not under some clown who signed up for an MLM.
    5. No, supplementation is not a “must” if you eat a well balanced diet. I know because I do it on a daily basis. I hate that people sell the lie that you must take supplements to be healthy.
    6. The MLM system refers to the endless chain recruiting that goes on in companies like Xyngular. Regular companies are not MLMs because you don’t work as a receptionist and then recruit other receptionists to work under you. Duh.

So again, I don’t wish to support, promote, or take products sold by abusive companies like Xyngular. I don’t have to take this snake oil to know that it’s crap.

Someone recently tried to sell me this program for depression and anxiety. The biggest red flag for me is they tell me the program works with a proper diet. A proper diet is what works… you don’t even have to exercise to stay thin with a proper diet. Diet is 80%. I told them I am already thin, i already eat healthy, and I already work out. I am allergic to probiotics so I’m really confused. Plexus did the same thing and I was told it did nothing for me because I couldn’t take the probiotic. ? You can pick up a probiotic at the store cheap, but I can’t take it anyways. And the worst thing with these programs is the women never ever look healthy… they look extremely unhealthy in these programs… When if they had stuck to exercise and proper healthy diet they would be thinner and in better health. I need to write a diet plan for people who can’t stick with one and sell it… for like $20. Anyone on my plan would guaranteed lose weight and get healthy. You can cheat. I cheat all the time. Depression and anxiety can’t be helped with some sugar and some cold medicine ingredients lol. Hence their products.

I personally know someone who has been extremely successful with Xyngular, financially. I’ll just say, her before and after pictures do NOT match her real life appearance. She is still circulating a picture from six years ago, in which she looks like a skeleton. She is constantly pushing the 8-day ultimate transformation whatever, then boom “I’m wearing a belt!”. Then a month later she is in sweatpants. She is constantly bragging about the exact amount of the paychecks in her mailbox. If my boss told me how much money she was making, I would be disgusted or discouraged if I wasn’t doing well.
For full disclosure, I am part of another MLM. We are NOT allowed to make health claims that are untrue and we are NOT allowed to say any kind of dollar amounts in regards to our income.

I was on xyngular for a while i can confirm that it doesnt work well. The only reason i lost weight was because I exercised and ate healthy foods.

We weren’t supposed to starve ourselves. In fact they said when you get hungry eat something. If anything i felt too full most days. But we were eating a ketogenic diet and it mainly consisted of healthy fats like cheese and proteins like eggs and meat.

When i got off the diet from it being wayyy too expensive i gained all of my weight back plus some. Now i work out and eat more veggies. I feel better than ever. Its taking longer but more worth it.

It’s the end of 2018 and Jennifer McKinney is up to it again. Please update the weight loss and gain. She posted 80 pound weight loss since May and she looks the same weight as in 2012. She’s made $3M in 6 years but the weight’s the same.

Audra Atherton doesn’t work for everyone. Honestly it works because you are eating what you are supposed to be eating. I had an allergic reaction to one of the products and their customer support offered zero refund on a very expensive package. I was told it was Niacin flush that would last for 20 to 30 minutes. It’s been 5 days of agony and not the claimed “detoxing”. Niacin poisoning would be more like it. Plus and allergy causes swelling and hives. Not a flush rash.

Absolutely incorrect information! In the 8-day you eat 5 times a day every day, no starving or binging! And this lady took one person’s story also, exploiting her. This article and blog seems routed in the seed of bitterness. Maybe she needs to check her sources or do something better to make a more honest, accurate post that helps people rather than hurts them.

      Not true, Hannah.

First, this article was written in 2013, and at that time, the program had no meals whatsoever. The closest you came to a meal was a “protein only” meal… which isn’t a meal at all.

Currently the program is different. But you do not eat 5 times a day. You have a stupid shake for breakfast. That’s not eating. You get two tiny snacks (something like 2 tablespoons of peanut butter or 1/4 cup of pumpkin seeds). Technically it’s eating, but it’s sure not much. You get to have lunch and dinner which is a small portion of protein and a cup or two of vegetables. That’s a meal, but it’s small.

Most important, however, is that your day is filled with supplements, and that’s not really healthy. You shouldn’t be taking appetite suppressants and energy drinks multiple times a day. It’s just not good for you.

  135. […] found this last week on Facebook, written by a woman who was “successful” in Xyngular (a nutritional supplement MLM). She’s been in their “presidents club” for years. Think of this like Mary […]

All the MLM and Xyngular groupies love to brag and post their swimsuit pics and act like heros healthy wrong and exercise. Does not cost the outrageous mark ups (gouging) and exploiting people with fake dreams. Always more to the big bucks story. As a consumer advocate I appreciate your thoughts and comments on MLM. Push come to shove MLM are just cults regardless of the products. Marketing and systems process and scripts. And sob stores of success to pull people’s heartstrings. False hope while upper line makes the big bucks.
